Mother and Daddy's life was one disaster after another. They wereyoung when a tornado blew everything they owned away, barns, house,everything except a wagon and a spring seat. It simply turned theseat upside down. They had no insurance.
Mother's son, David Samuel, weighed 14 pounds when he was born. Thedoctor brokehis neck which killed David, and mother grieved her lifethrough for him.
I was large, also, and doctor's instruments injured me, and I was bornparalized. I recovered.
Daddy had 500 long haired goats. He sheared them early, a lateblizzard came and froze them all to death.
Daddy was a dispatcher on the Santa Fe Railroad. Flu hit and manydied. Others were very ill a long time. Mother made a lei forDaddy's neck. It had garlic and heaven knows what else in it. Mydaddy didn't get ill.
Two of his R.R. buddies were very ill. They had large families. Daddyworked 19-20 hours a day during their illness to keep the R. R. going.The railroad was so grateful to daddy that they paid full pay checksto the two buddies families.
Sadly, within a year, R. R. workers wnt on strike. Bad then everyonekept chains in theri model T's because they'd get stuck in wetweather. These very men who my daddy's long hours had provided incomefor their families were among those lined up with car chains and wouldnot let Daddy enter his place of work. Daddy felt obligated to crossthe picket line because the R. R. had allowed him to provid for thosetwo families. Those were very bac and dangerous times. He didn'twant to be beaten by those whom he thought had been his friends, sorather than anger either side, he quit. This was very sad because mydaddy died when I was very young, and the very men whose jobs daddyhad protected, by their actions, deprived my mother of a fine R. R.pension, had he been allowed to continue to work.
Daddy tried farming, He had the most magnificent cotton. People allaround came to see his wonderful cotton. It was to far north tomature properly, but that fall an unseasonably early blizzard hit andfroze the cotton.
This kind of luck plagued Daddy all his life, especially did he hadserious farm accidents!

Woodrow and Susie was raised by Tom and Tenn Blanscet, this is thestory Woodrow told for the Blanscet Book.
Mother and my sister and I lived with my grandmother. When mygrandmother died my Great Uncle came in there and urn us out of thereand made a barn out of the house and took away all the furniture. Sofor awhile we lived in a cave. I was six months old at the time.Then a bunch of people tried to say mother was unfit because we livedin a cave and half of them was Tuckers....none of them offered tohelp. My mother grieved herself to death...still a young woman. Tomand Tennessee Blanscet took us in. My sister was seven years olderthan me (1915). I've got the complaint they signed against my motherat the house. I wish I knew where she is buried. I was 14 months oldwhen the Blanscets took my. The Tuckers didn't care about anybody buttheir selves.
