Blancett, Carl
Carl Blancett, 80, of Hixson, died on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006, in a local hospital.
He was born on Oct. 7, 1925, in Fabius, Al., to the late Robert and Lucinda Blancett.
Mr. Blancett retired from Butane Gas Company after 42 years of service and also served in the U.S. Navy and attended Middle Valley Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Carleen Blancett Oldaker; and four brothers, Walter, Lee, Charlie and William.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Jane Patten Blancett; daughter, Judy Blancett and her fiance, Jerry Espy, of Hixson; two granddaughters, Kristie Oldaker, of Huntsville, Al., and Amie Oldaker, of Hixson; son-in-law, Harold Oldaker, of Hixson; sister, Lorene Garland, of Pisgah, Al.; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Funeral service for Mr. Blancett will be 3 p.m. on Tuesday, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Greg Lindsey and the Rev. Bill Bass officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with nephews serving as pallbearers.
His family will receive friends after 11 a.m. Monday and 10 a.m. Tuesday until time of service.
